It all started in 2007, when Amazon released the first Kindle device. We knew right away that publishing had changed forever. It was now possible to not only conveniently purchase and store thousands of books right in your pocket, but it was also a new dawn for authors who couldn’t previously get passed the gatekeepers of the publishing industry, with Amazon’s introduction of self-publishing platform KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing).

Authors could now go straight to market without waiting years for agents or publishers to notice them. The problem was, some of the book design, including book covers, interior layout, typesetting, and eBook formatting, was nowhere near the standard of publishers such as HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, etc. And you know us readers are a fussy bunch!

We founded Socciones (which the name derives of blended family names Jones and Soccio, giving a nod to our Welsh and Italian roots) to offer authors book and eBook design that is of an equal standard to the world’s most popular publishing houses, and here we are 16 years later having worked with many wonderful people and still as passionate as ever about book design and publishing.

We’re a super-friendly, family-run business, and we’re delighted to be a part of House of Riviera Group, a sports and entertainment company with a presence in the UK, Monaco, and Miami. We hope this explains the vibrant palette and palm tree themes of our new website!
